GP Feature: Beta of the Month, February

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars

While not a true beta this month I thought a demo might just be as good. There is lack of betas this month and I, unfortunately didn’t get into the Halo 3 beta.

Let us begin Command & Conquer returns with some flare in its new installment, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. Sporting some much improved graphics from there previous titles and a few gameplay tweaks that vastly improve on the playability and fun of the originals. The GDI and Nod return to fight for domination over the world, along with the new company of the Scrin, an alien race that comes for the Tiberium.

I can say I went into this game with high hopes and I can say from what I played in the demo it doesn’t disappoint.

In true Command & Conquer fashion you start of with a MCV (mobile construction vehicle) that transform into your construction yard in which lets you build your structures. After you set up your MCV you can move onto building up your base and defenses. With the new interface building a base hasn’t been faster. Everything you ever need to do with your base from producing units to build structures can be done easily from the right side Interface.

Combat can get pretty instance and sometimes overwhelming for those tactically uninfluenced, but it can provide an awesome intense action feeling you get from many shooters. In addiction to fast paced and explosive units, each team receives one form of super weapon (possibly more this is only demo) that can devastate an entire base in seconds. There is nothing more satisfying then watching the GDI’s Ion Cannon blows the crap out of a Nod base.

Will this game delivers or flop, I believe it will deliverer, but its release will tell.
