Gaming Apps: DrawSomething Pro

Back in April of 2012 I reviewed DrawSomething, an App game that I played against friends on my iPad. Now, almost a year later, I am still playing it but on an upgraded App release.

Similar to the original DrawSomething you are able to play against random people, DrawSomething friends, people from Facebook or Twitter. And you still don’t need to have any drawing skills what-so-ever. Stickmen, rough outlines, some imagination, and humor are all you need. I’d like to say that I’m getting better at drawing but that’s up to my opponents to decide.

What does the “Pro” version get you? A better fit for you iPad screen, for one. The App fits on the screen a lot better than before, which may seem like a little thing if you don’t play the game much but it’s a big deal if you’re in the App every day. You can scroll through more colors as you swipe through them, thus finding the perfect color faster! You also get unlimited bombs and the ability to play the special categories without “paying” for them. Since you get unlimited bombs, you can use those coins you’re saving to buy up all those color palettes. I’ve already gotten them all so I’m waiting for them to release new ones. Yup…me and my 2000 coins are waiting for new colors to be release. *sigh*

So if you’ve been playing against me in the past couple of weeks and noticed that every word I play is worth 5 to 9 coins, now you know why. I don’t have to waste bombs on picking new words to draw which helps us all out in the coin count.

Usually I don’t go for the “pay for” updates but I use this App with a couple of friends and my son uses it to play against his friends as well which makes the cost worth it for us. We were able to get it for the $2.99 price; I think it’s now floating around the $4.99 price tag. I don’t know if I’d do it for that much money, I do know that I didn’t mind spending $2.99 considering it was right around the time I wasted that same amount of money for Final Fantasy: All the Bravest. Gag.

DrawSomething is still a fun App to play and not worrying about bomb usage is nice. Not to mention it’s nice to see the coin count go up and up and up now that I don’t have to worry about saving 1600 coins to trade for bombs anymore.
