I know that when it comes right down to it, you don’t always want to read an entire article to find out if you should see a movie or not. So, with this in mind, I give you my quick picks, short, to the point reasons why you should or shouldn’t see the films that are opening this weekend. Think of it as a strategy guide for moviegoers.

The Hills Have Eyes 2: C-

• Why you should see it: If you’re in the mood for blood and gore, and don’t care about the story, this one’s for you.
• Why you should pass: Weak story, terrible dialogue and the make-up isn’t as good as the predecessor.

The Last Mimzy: B

• Why you should see it: it’s a solid kids adventure movie.
• Why you should pass: doesn’t offer much beyond being a nice outing with your kids or younger siblings.

Pride: C+

• Why you should see it: you’re a fan of sports movies, or loved everything in the Mighty Ducks except the comedy.
• Why you should pass: you’ve seen this movie a few dozen times, just with different actors.

Reign Over Me: B

• Why you should see it: you’re looking for a guy film that you can bring your lady friend to see.
• Why you should pass: if you’re looking for your typical Adam Sandler film, look elsewhere.
