Or should I say, Guitar Hero wannabe?

This is button mashing game … not much more.

As the title sounds…there are rockets and they go boom!  Much like Guitar hero there are colors to be pressed and music to be made.  In Boom Boom Rocket it’s button mashing to the rhythm of songs that are being played.  The faster you’re able to press buttons, the better you’ll do and the more points you can earn, and a better overall grade at the end of each session.

There are a couple of different levels that ranging from easy to hard.  In each level there are songs that you can pick and then the fireworks are launched in time to the music.  There’s a line at the top of the screen and the closer to the line you press the correct button, the bigger and brighter the fireworks will be.  You can tell how you did by sight of the fireworks as well as by the written cues at the bottom of the screen (ok, good, awesome).

You can earn new fireworks patterns by completing levels.  Some of them are pretty cool and if you can keep up with the speed of the fireworks, it can look pretty cool at times.  But there isn’t much more to it than that.  I know that I wouldn’t pay for the game through the arcade download but getting it as part of a package deal on a XBL Arcade Disc would be alright to try.

Single Player modes:

•Regular – this is when you play the regular game.  You choose the song you want to play and then you can pick the difficulty of it (Easy, Medium, and Hard).
•Endurance – In this mode they will loop a song so that it plays over and over again.  Each time is a “lap” and each time it does a “lap” the song will get faster and the player plays to see how long they can last.  Thus the term “endurance.”
•Practice Mode – Like it sounds it allows you to get your barring so that you can get through the “real” session.

Multi-player mode:

•To play this you need to have another active XBL account but if you have this, then you can play against other family members or friends to see who’s better at Boom Boom Rocket!

A bonus for this game is that you can use your guitar to play this game.  You need to “strum” it just like you would if you were playing Guitar hero.

Needless to say, I wasn’t too impressed with the game and don’t feel the greatest of urges to play this game in the near future.

My Final Score is a 4.5
